Sand Sculptures

For the fifth time, giant sand sculptures will rise at Pustevny as part of the annual charity sand sculpture exhibition in the open air. This year’s exhibition is titled “Sand World.” This time, we will dive into the world beneath the ocean surface. Once again, the sculptures will feature species listed on the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature). In our Sand World, this year you will see a group of sea lions, a giant coral reef, a marine iguana, and dolphins.

As every year, 90 tons of environmentally friendly sand from the Vítošov limestone quarry will be used to create the sculptures, transported to Pustevny in three large trucks from Sytrans. The largest sculptures will reach a height of around three meters. A team of four artists from our region will work on the sculptures with the assistance of six helpers, heavy machinery from HR Systém, and special formwork. Once completed, all sculptures will be treated with a special spray from Den Braven.

Pískosvět na Pustevnách se sponzory
The Happy Forest Association is organizing the exhibition as a charitable project aimed not only at entertaining visitors but also at showcasing the beauty of art and the talent of sculptors in creating sand sculptures. However, the main idea of the project is to inspire visitors to reflect on responsible behavior toward the environment. That’s why the exhibition will include an educational trail focused on endangered animals, designed to engage the whole family. The exhibition will run throughout the summer holidays and, weather permitting, will continue through September. Entry will once again be free of charge. Visitors are welcome to contribute a voluntary donation, which will go to organizations working directly in regions where endangered animal species live, supporting their protection efforts.
